These cups are made with a sandy brown clay that fires to a rich black. They are coated in a glaze made with ash from native desert Piñon and Juniper trees, mixed with red clay gathered locally. It creates a complex set of browns and greens with drips and blotches throughout.

The Facets of these cups interact with the glaze to create a more rough texture. This set covers a range of colors possible with this glaze. Two of the cups have a spotted green color pattern. The other two absorbed more of the glaze, leaving the surface a glossy dark brown.
